I recently bought a used FJ Cruiser and wanted to mount adual band ham radio inside without needing major reorganization of the dash. There is not a whole lot of room for a radio so I bought a QYT KT-8900D radio which is really quite small and light for a mobile application. This mount is designed to fit in the forward cup holder and uses two ball type mounts to make the installation fully adjustable.
The mount arms were derived from Variable length arm for Round-a-mount (RAM) mounting system thing. I have included the STL files for the configuration I used. These were configured to use two 1-12" 1/4-20 machine screws and associated nuts.
The remaining components:
Upper ball mount - 1" ball mount with plate to fit QYT KT-8900D mounting bracket - Use four 1/2" #8 machines screws, washers and lock washers to attach this to the radio bracket.
Lower ball mount - 1" ball mount to fit cup holder
Cup Holder - designed to fit FJ Cruiser cup holder.
The ball mounts incorporate a 1" long #10 machine screw and nut for shaft re-enforcement.
The lower ball mount is attached to the cup holder via four 1/2" long #6 machine screws and captive nuts.
Print this in PETG or ABS for use inside a car. I tried this in PLA and had the whole mount collapse due to warping in the heat.
