Please read the entire text first. There are bad news on the end.
Inspired by the bee hotel from mitrasmit I create this "Moai Statue Insect Hotel". Why not combine art and nature? You get a nice statue for your garden and the insects a new home.
You should read the comments about the insect hotel from mitrasmit too. And Thank you to Julien_DaCosta for the No-overhang-Moai-Remix.
The statue is designed to print in this size. There are really a lot of holes for the insects. There is a light angle in the pipes so water can flow out. (It was a real pain to join this many objects in Tinkercad and take me some hours.)
The model will take some time to slice and print it! I guess you can scale it a tiny bit if you really need it, otherwise the holes becomes too thin or thick. Print it without support and a decent infill. If the inner will not be fine only the insects will note it (and maybe love it).
Place it outdoor (best: water and wind save) and hope the insects will check in. Tell your friends about and like my things. You can sand it, but do'nt paint it.
I did not print or test it yet (I do'nt have a garden), just remixed it for fun (and of course the insects). If you made one please post your make (and the happy insects too ;)
Now the bad news: The model is to complicated to be usable. I tried to slice it and it takes really really(!) long. The slicer told me (because of the many walls) it will need more than 2kg of filament and more than a week to print. (Can you confirm this?) Absolute unusable for me. But if you are crazy enough, good luck.
