Summary

This is my rework of "Iron Man- Arc Reactor" by Thebak3.

I found that his bottom piece was in the form of an oval, so I made it round (supposed to screw together with the top). I also found that the tolerance from the top to the bottom wasn't enough, so I downsized the top by 3%. Lastly, I added a file as an insert, simply labeled as "Arc Reactor" that I hot glued blue LEDs into, and then wired together to get the shown effect. I ran this off of a 3.85v cell phone battery (Samsung Galaxy 5) and reworked a battery holder to includ belt loops and terminal holes for the battery.

Once printed, I inserted metal contacts for the battery, that then I connected to a molex adapter for easy disconnect. I also found a 3.7v dc output transformer (from ac) and wired that with a amolex as well, so the final can be used with either a battery op or from the wall. I placed LEDs into each of the holes in the "arc reactor" print, and hot glued them inplace, follow by adding a resistor to each then doing a rough job connecting them (yes it's messy). I then hot glued the wiring to solidify it and prevent positive from contacting negative. There was plenty of space so the wiring didn't need to be perfect. I wired in an on/off switch and slapped in a permanent resistor on the led positive side (reduced the brightness), added a molex connector and called it good.

Regarding the prints - print the "Arc reactor" in transparent/translucent for best effect. otherwise, your call on finish. The arc reactor is too big (diameter), I sanded it down due to time issues, but easier would be to downscale the diameter (I HAVE NOT DONE THIS, BUT SIMPLY PROVIDED THE FILE I USED). The other issue I had, was that the thread pitch was off, I used a dremel and augered out the bottom a bit, until it fit. Someone with better skills than I could probably just fix the files.

Do note - this is my first finished project after getting my printer about a week prior, and then rushing this for Christmas time. Go easy! :P
