Summary

Update 22/05/17 Build photos added.
Notes on this build,i would hold fire until final design is complete.
I fully intend to increase/make slight tolerances to account for the 8mm rods not being entirely straight.
Also due to the design of this thing, you must ensure that it is bolted down to a very flat surface,i am encountering slight issues with binding of the sliding blocks due to my surface/desk not being entirely level.

More details,photos/videos coming shortly.

UPDATE 18/05/17 Added 3x stepper enclosure,http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2330116
Update 07/12/15 build photos added.

Update 23.11.15 Uploaded minion multi AIO z top, middle, and bottom spindle motor support block.
This will mount a 48volt 400watt 52mm spindle motor.
You will require 8mm bronzed bushings 12mm thick x10mm long x8mm inner.

I have decided to make the z axis mounting modular for easy and quick changing of the tool being used.
MK8 extruder update coming shortly.

Update 20.11.15
Project name clanged to minion multi AIO.

The aim of this project is to create a simple but very flexible manufacturing device.
I have decided that i want to create a machine that is able to use any printing technology currently available.
Potentially the machine will do the following, but is not limited to.

Laser engraving
FDM printing
SLA printing
SLS printing
CNC miling
Vinyl cutting

But for now, this thing is a work in progress selective laser sintering machine.

It can be used for laser diode engraving, and eventually laser sintering of polyamide power for 3D printing.
The build proposed chamber size is 400mm XY and 300mm Z axis.

Only one z axis is required,as the powder is collected form the sides of the build chamber hoppers and spread over the build platform.
Auger screws are used to refill the hopper during each pass.
Unused/excess powder is pushed off the platform and into a collection draw under the machine for reuse.
The x and y axis are linked through the corner support blocks so that only one nema 17 stepper motor is needed per axis.

You will require a ramps 1.4 controller PCB for movement control.
An arduino mega 2560 board r3
4 x DRV8825 Stepper Motor Drivers
Reprap Full Graphics LCD Controller

X axis x 1 nema 17 motor
y axis x 1 nema 17 motor
z axis x 1 nema 17 motor

Build platform axis sweep/hopper refill x 1 nema 17 motor

I have uploaded the corner support block for now,and will upload the rest of the build shortly.

Th corner support block requires 4 x 688 2rs bearings @ 8x16x5mm
8mm chrome plated rod is used for all linear rails,i have ordered 8x 500mm rods for the initial build.

Proposed machine outside dimensions are 600x600 XY and 500mm Z

I would recommend if able to print the parts in poly-carbonate or nylon filament, due to the extra resistance to the high temperatures of the build chamber.

Your comments and feedback will make this project grow and flourish.

(disclaimer) Please be aware that for safety reasons, the build chamber of this machine is intended to be made out of laser safe poly-carbonate or solid aluminum sheet.
I have rendered it in clear plastic purely for illustration purposes only.
Please ensure that you ware laser goggles at all times when messing around with laser diodes.if you don't own laser googles (buy them now) before attempting any tinkering.
You cant put a price on your eyesight,40 GBP or blind for life, its not and option.
