Summary

I made this miniature holder to help me with painting 40k figures. There are some parts of some miniatures that require lots of handling in awkward positions (upside down, etc.).

There are some good painting aides available here. But I decided to make one that can easily accommodate anything with a base from 25 to 40 mm, and be comfortable to hold. Although overcomplicated for a painting aide, it work's well for my needs.

Can also be used for display purposes.

ABS parts (or pla)
3x 2.5mm electric cable termination jacks (as cam followers)
1x small rubber band
(optional) 3x M3x5mm sunken head screws.
(optional) Grease (appropriate to the filament you use like PTFE Grease)

  • the pitch on the cam shafts is non linear to allow grater force and control on the ends of travel.
  • the rotation for the cam disk/axel is clockwise (to open). Although it feels "backswords" it is done so you won't unscrew the base/handle while opening the sliders.
  • do not use for spray paint !!!

  • the Emperor protects !!
