Print in Place Minecraft Iron Golem
I've included both a Low Poly version, and and one with a bit more detail based on the texture (you can use this as a guide for painting).
Designed entirely in Google Sketchup
When printing, lay on it's back with 30% Support (I tried less, and it did not go as well)
It should be fine to have it on the build plate only (otherwise, it might makes the joints get stuck).
The reason for the odd positioning is to reduce the amount of support required and the amount of cleanup required afterwards.
The nose printed fine for me despite the unsupported overhang
Note:
The arms and legs can sometimes stick to the body, if they do not move when you rotate them, gently pry them apart with a knife.
Additionally, the legs, once mobile, are very mobile. While unfinished, this can make the figure difficult to stand upright. However, after painting, this adds sufficient material in the interior surfaces of the joint to increase friction to the point to where it can easily stand without issue.
Also, the joints do start off printing a mess in the socket before they start to take shape, but it seems to end up working just fine once it gets past a few layers. This is my first attempt at a print-in-place piece like this, so if you have any suggestions for improvements to the joints/movement, I would be glad to hear them.
