A simple container for organizing items on a desk. I really needed something to put small items and tools in on my desk, and since the long-awaited Minecraft cave-update is coming out later this year, I thought the organizer should resemble a mob from the update, and the axolotl seemed to be the best choice (I like the Warden but it's scary).
First off, yes, there are A LOT of parts. BUT, the print is actually quite easy to assemble. The main reason for the many files is to allow you to print the parts with different colors just like the actual mob. Since l despise printing with supports and my cats always break my stuff, I made all of the ferns, legs, and the tail detachable. So in the case you break your axolotl's leg you can just print it a new one. As an added bonus, the tail can move on a hinge, and the axolotl's head can be removed, although I think axolotl looks better with the head attached.
-Use PLA or PETG
-You may need super glue: the model is designed to hold together parts with enough pressure without the need for super glue, but you never know.
-0.20 mm works for layer height, but watch out for the small connectors which require adequate adhesion to the build plate.
-A precision knife is useful for trimming parts where the fit is too tight, although in my case I rarely needed it.
-In the stl files list, a file appended with MT mean that the part has been made slightly smaller to accommodate for tight fits. LT means less so.
-Precision knife
-Maybe super glue.
-Multiple filament colors are nice to have.
For filament colors, it works best to have unique colors for each of the following groups.
-Eyes: preferably Black or Dark Blue
-Mouth: Up to you, although Light Red or a variant of the Body color both work well
-Ferns: Dorsal Fin, and Inner Tail - Usually a contrasting color to the body color
-Head: Legs. and Main Body - use same color for all
-Connectors: Can be same as Main Body or relatively close
