This Shock Mount attaches to the top of a tripod/mic stand and allow your mic to attach to it via a standard 1/4-20UNC tripod mount. Once mounted, the Shock Mount will drastically reduce all noise that flows through the tripod/mic stand.
A good Shock Mount will eliminate the basy thuds that sometimes is heard on a recording as people or things move about in the room. And by using a Shock Mount instead of a low-cut (aka Hi-pass) filter, this allows the mic to record the natural base sounds within the room.
