This is a simple block plane that i designed.
you have the body, a wedge and a fake blade. You can use the fake blade as a model to make a proper, metal one; I made mine from a old circular saw blade and it works fantastic when well sharpenned.
You need to adjust it with a hammer (drive the weddge in and then tap the blade to extend it, or tap the back of the plane to pop out the wedge and reset it), just like old wooden planes… Look it up on youtube, paul sellers and wood by wright have good videos on doing that, rex krueger too, i think. If have too much blade stickout, it won't works well.
Making the blade takes 20-25 mins with a grinder and the right honnnig settup (look tht up too on youtube).
The video shows me using it and getting GREAT curls and a fantastic finish (that is after like 5-10 mins of playing aroud i'm no expert):
