Behold! A tray for magnetized models that is slim enough for models to be moved over seamlessly and strong enough to pick up all 5-man squads as shown in the photos.
This design is meant for 28mm and 25mm models.
Just take 5 metallic discs and glue them to these tray inserts. I chose only to make a 5-disc variant because it is the most efficient tray footprint for many armies. Anything more made the tray heavy and difficult to place in dense/small terrain. I used 6mm x 2mm round neodymium magnets on my models and poster putty to attach them under their bases.
The metal discs I used were "1 Inch Steel Disc, Blank Metal Strike Plates" on Amazon US, these are generally used for making badges or jewelry. I do have to give a strong warning, these cost $30 because they're only sold as 250 pieces. I encourage you to find them cheaper in other places if you can. However, it is IMPORTANT to check in the item description these are magnetically attractive for your models to stick to.
