This remix is designed for the 40" Harbor Freight aluminum rule. While I did completely draw this model in Fusion 360, it is heavily influenced by this model https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6550203 created by https://www.thingiverse.com/stenokit/designs.
Along with using an M5 brass threaded insert instead of a captured nut, I also added a tension pad to prevent damage to the rule. Install the insert from the back side to lessen the chance it will be pulled out under tension. The knob has a modeled M5 thread that might need to be chased with a tap. Screw the SHCS onto the knob and snug up tightly. It will likely not need any glue, but a drop of CA can be used if necessary.
I have provided Fusion 360 file with User Parameters for the ruler width and thickness if you'd like to use a different ruler. I did not provide User Parameters for any other dimensions, but the full timeline is there so changes can easily be made. I also included a STP file for other CAD programs.
