This is a fly fishing reel that I recently designed. The main goal was to make something usable that has as few moving parts as possible for simplicity of assembly and printing. Also, because I generally dislike the clicking sound associated with many fly reels I decided to take a different approach to generating resistance on the line. By arranging magnets attracted to each other on either half of the reel as you pull out line there is resistance as you force each pair away from one another.
Remixes are encouraged! This is a work in progress so any contributions or constructive criticism are welcome. I have included a copy of the sketchup file that I used to make this for your convenience. After seeing krapouere's fishing reel I was inspired myself to make this one. Although, I haven't actually tried it out on the river yet but hopefully will soon.
Happy Fishing!
