Summary

Update: New version with spring.
Also the face and plunger have been updated to move the thumb position up and away from the stuff you are picking up.

Note that the spring is not essential for operation, but I think it makes it more user-friendly.
Also note that if you use the spring, tape down the plunger with the spring compressed while you glue the top to the tube

Tool for removing remains of through board components from your work table if you are into electronic assembly.

I got fed up with finding and picking up all the bits of legs cut off leds and capacitors etc when I made electronic projects, so I made this little tool to help out.

For some reason Cura thinks that its quicker to print at 100% infill (although, of course, slightly more filament), and to my surprise it is quicker. Go figure.

Anyway, print one of each part. You will need a 10x3 round magnet (about 2 quid for 10 on Amazon), and some super glue to glue it to the plunger. Also glue the face to the tube after inserting the plunger (See the update notes above for glueing tips)

After that you have a tool that picks up electronic waste. Just tap the tool on all the legs/leads etc you want to get rid off and slide the plunger up and then discard the waste in the bin. Simples!

Edit: Someone told me that its quite noisy in operation. I never noticed because I'm hard of hearing but apparently a bit of WD40 on the outside of the tube does the trick!
