This adapter ring will allow you to install a 40mm, 32ohm speaker into the slot in a Macintosh II meant for a 56mm speaker. The 40mm should fit securely in the inner circle, and the outer circle has an inset ring that will clip into the clips meant for the original Mac II speaker. I did add a bit of hot glue to ensure the speaker stayed inside the ring, even though there was a pretty good friction fit.

However, it should work with any 40mm speaker. Just make sure you get a 32ohm speaker to match the original.
