Summary

WARNING

This version of the M548 is not 100% finished. Some parts such as winch, interiors, machine gun or the hinges for the front doors are not made. The hole project has been developed using FreeCad and at this point, it has become too large and complex and some of the files has been corrupted. This makes me really hard to redesign, upgrade and develop new parts.

The bad news is that this version won't be updated anymore

The good news is that I’m working in a new version using a more powerful CAD software . I will redesign the entire model and include important upgrades in the gearbox, tracks, sprockets and It will include much more details such as opening front doors interiors, winch and machine gun (among other things). This new version will also include more detailed building guide with bill of materials and everything you need to build it step by step.

However with the already published files, you will always be able to build a fully functional M548 as you can see running in the youtube videos below. If that enought for you, that's PERFECT!

I will inform you as soon as I have everything ready to publish the new version. Thank you very much for your comprehension and patience!

Stay tunned!

INTRODUCTION

This is the Tracks for the M548 RC 1/10 scale model. I've tested the model and, although it is not finished yet, it seems to work propperly. You can see it working in the following links:

ASSEMBLY

FreeCAD

I'm very proud to say that the entire design has been done using FreeCAD opensource software. I must thank all the developers. Without you, this project wouldn't be possible!!

For this particular case, I highly recommend to download FreeCAD in order to see how to assemble everything. This pieces are a litte bit complex and the assembly files will help you a lot to understand how to come all the parts togetherIf you want to download this software for free and visualize the assemble, you can do it in the following link:

FreeCAD official page FreeCAD.

Links

In this case, you will need to print at least 69 links for each side, so this make a total of 138 links. The links are joined using metal nails (44 mm long and 2,2 mm diameter). The other part of the link (the jag that fits the guide wheels gap) can be assembled with a little bit of Cyanocrylate

The links are very tight to the sproket tooth. That is why I also give you the FreeCad files in order to you modify the links to your necessities. If you have any problem, please just let me now.

Recommendation

I highly recommend to print a small number of links and be sure that they fit the sprocket. Otherwise you can loose great amount of time and plastic. So be sure that the movement between the sprockets and the chain is smooth enough before printing all the links.

Hardware

In order to assemble all the parts of the suspension and wheels, you will need the following stuff:

  • 140 x nails (44mm x 2.2mm diameter)
