The file 'M548 (Gearbox) 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 356.9KB.
This version of the M548 is not 100% finished. Some parts such as winch, interiors, machine gun or the hinges for the front doors are not made. The hole project has been developed using FreeCad and at this point, it has become too large and complex and some of the files has been corrupted. This makes me really hard to redesign, upgrade and develop new parts.
The bad news is that this version won't be updated anymore
The good news is that I’m working in a new version using a more powerful CAD software . I will redesign the entire model and include important upgrades in the gearbox, tracks, sprockets and It will include much more details such as opening front doors interiors, winch and machine gun (among other things). This new version will also include more detailed building guide with bill of materials and everything you need to build it step by step.
However with the already published files, you will always be able to build a fully functional M548 as you can see running in the youtube videos below. If that enought for you, that's PERFECT!
I will inform you as soon as I have everything ready to publish the new version. Thank you very much for your comprehension and patience!
Stay tunned!
This is the Gearbox for the M548 RC 1/10 scale model. As occured with the chassis, it has been designed in order to be printed in a 200x200 mm printer (the most common). I've tested the model and, although it is not finished yet, it seems to work propperly. You can see it working in the following links:
I'm very proud to say that the entire design has been done using FreeCAD opensource software. I must thank all the developers. Without you, this project wouldn't be possible!!
To make the assemble easier to understand, I've included the FreeCAD assembly files where you can see in detail, how to come all the parts together. If you want to download this software for free and visualize the assemble, you can do it in the following link:
FreeCAD official page FreeCAD.
In this case, all the parts of this design can be assembled just using bolts and nuts and no glue is needed at all.
In order to assemble all the parts of the gearbox, you will need the following stuff:
You will see a FreeCAD assembly file called "Gearbox Right". In this file you will find all the pieces you need to print in order to build the gearbox. In this file you will also see how to fix the gearbox to the Chassis parts. The left gearbox is fixed to the Chassis part called
"Chassis_A_Left" and the right gearbox is fixed to the Chassis part called "Chassis_A_Right"
Take into account that you need 2 gearboxes so all the other parts need to be printed twice. The only parts that do not need to be re-printed are "side cover right" which corresponds to the right gearbox and "side cover left" which corresponds to the left gearbox. All the other parts need to be printed twice. The only exception is the piece called "P3_Stage3_Half" which needs to be printed 4 times since you need 2 pieces per gearbox.
