2024-08-16: Uploaded a new V3 variant that is 90mm wide and has slightly different shape at top close to the foot, very comfortable for seated riding, it uses the same mount as V2.
2024-07-22: Added additional 3mm shorter versions of the upper PLA mounts, since the footlocks can only be adjusted in 6mm increments I made these 3mm shorter onesif you need more precise footlock placement. For example if you printed the normal one and find that you can not find the perfect sweet spot where the footlock is either too close or too far from your foot when adjusting then try printing the 3mm shorter one.
2024-07-17: Major redesign of these footlock replacements, I had two goals with the redesign:
1: Make seated riding more comfortable for the foot allowing for more upward flex
2: Make it possible to have the footlocks lower and add more contact with the foot without sacrificing comfort and avoiding footcramps.
By changing the mount to make it a solid core of certain size and making the outer TPU part softer with updated print settings I achieved what I set out to do, this new replacement is much more comfortable when riding seated and you can have it closer to your foot without feeling discomfort.
These changes means that there are both new models and new print settings.
I also added an optional adjustment knob for making footlock adjustments much easier and quicker from using the stock adjustment-nut, this knob requires that you add a hot melt insert, the insert should be an M6 insert of 10mm length and 9mm OD.
A Footlock replacement for the Lynx and the Sherman L.
This is a 2-part print that replaces the Footlock on the Lynx or the Sherman L.
The mount for the original Footlock is pretty tall, if you have bigger feet like me and the footlock ends up pretty high the mounting mechanism of the footlock is in the way for optimal pad placement (Photo example provided), I wanted to lower my pads but it was not possible because the stock Footlock was extruding so much above that is why I got the idea to design this.
This footlock also allows for comfortable seated riding due to flexibility of the footlock.
While designing a shorter mount this I also designed a longer one that might come in handy for those that might have lowered their pedals with a pedal-lowering-kit.
If you prefer the stock size that is also available here but I would recommend just printing the extender if you are happy with the vertical size of the stock mount.
All the models are for the left side, to get the right side just mirror the left side.
Print Settings for Footlock (Lower Part):
-Recommended Material: TPU 95A (Avoid Overture, their stated shore hardness is incorrect and it's way too soft)
-My Nozzle Size: 0.6mm
-Layer Height: 0.3mm
-Line Width: 0.62mm
-Walls: 2 (2x 0.62 = 1.24mm)
-Bottom and Top Layers: 3 (3x 0.3 = 0.9mm)
-Infill: 6% Gyroid
-Supports: Yes
Print Settings for Mount (Upper Part):
-Recommended Material: PLA or PLA+, you can use stronger material but PLA is sufficient, I use PLA+.
-My Nozzle Size: 0.6mm
-Layer Height: 0.3mm
-Line Width: 0.62mm
-Walls: 3 (3x 0.62 = 1.86mm)
-Bottom and Top Layers: 4 (3x 0.3 = 1.2mm)
-Infill: 12% Grid
-Supports: Yes
