Prevent grass from wrapping around screws holding blades in place, so the blades can spin freely. The guard has spacers to keep the guard separated from the disc, to ensure the guard gives the screw shoulder, maximum clearance to allow the free spinning of the blades while keeping any grass that may catch on the screw, from clogging the free movement of the blade.
No additional equipment is required, but this guard replaces the plastic washers that come with replacement blades.
Update: Strengthened the funnel by thickening slightly and filleting the join to the disc.
Update 2: Added a version for very wet grass that sticks to the blades and can clog the guard
