Summary

This is an adapter that will convert a Look Keo pedal to a flat/platform. The design is simple, it is a platform attached to a cleat. I have used PLA+ to print them and I have been using them on my bike for about a month now and love them. Read on for a few more details.

NB: The printing photos have L/R indicators wrong. The STLs have been fixed

This is basically the evolution of a mix of three different objects that are credited in the Remix section. I have made the following adjustments on the original designs:

  1. Removed the float from the cleat to stop the pedal rotating left and right. Whilst this is useful for cleats on shoes, it made the platform feel unstable.
  2. Added a lot of cut-outs in the platform and enhanced the structure. It is now grippy enough even in the wet.
  3. Added a whole for the little screw so that it can be loosened to mount/unmount the pedals without effort.

As you can see in the image with the various designs, I tried a few variations but I ended up at this platform size and shape as the optimal. The one that cuts short were sometimes making the pedal dig in the arch of my foot. The narrower one would not support the outside of my shoe leading to a bit of over pronation.

I have been positively surprised by the stregth of the pedals. I have more of a track sprinter build than an endurance cyclist and they are not showing any signs of fatigue after a month.
