Hallo there,
I am a big Game of Thrones Fan and also a hobby propmaker and a professional machine designer.
I searched for a new project for my holidays and thought the Longclaw from Jon Snow would be pretty nice.
Afer 30 minutes of searching through all diferent platformes i couldnt find the 100% correct movie prop from the show, so i decidet do make the file myself.
I am very good ad hard surface modeling but struggle with sculpting so i searched for the pommel that fitted my design best. So i used this one https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3054514.
I used pictures and the dimensions from the licenced propmaking company http://www.valyriansteel.com so my design would be as realistic as i was possible to make it.
I reinforced the pommel, handle and guard with 176mm long 10mm thick aluminium rod. The blade needs four 4mm brass rods. 2x490mm long from blade 1-5 and 2x330mm long from blade 5-8.
The grip is wraped with faux leather and the rest painted with vallejo paints.
