UPDATE:
I've added a version for 15mm fans as the 10mm fans were very loud, so if space allows on your motherboard, you might want to go with these. I can use one 15mm but don't have enough clearence on the other socket... still, a lot less noise. Might add angled adapters later for cases where clearence is an issue.

Besides adding a version for 60x60x15mm fans, I've also added a version for both sides of the ILM heatsinks, as it is not symmetrical. This allows now to set up for front to back or the other way round airflow. Might even use both for extra cooling. I also added a 2mm spacer between fan and heatsink to avoid the fan blades hitting the heatsink and shower the inside of your server with plastic pieces... -_-

So in total, there are now 4 versions:

  • Fan 60x60x10mm, front of the Heatsink
  • Fan 60x60x10mm, back of the Heatsink
  • Fan 60x60x15mm, front of the Heatsink
  • Fan 60x60x15mm, back of the Heatsink.

This is a simple 60mm fan adapter to push onto an SNK-P0048PS LGA2011(-3) 2U Passive CPU Narrow ILM heatsink. It might fit other heatsinks as well or could most likely easily adapted to do so.

The idea behind this is to optimize airflow when using this type of heatsink in a larger chassis without the super loud heavy duty server coolers. In my case I couldn't fit silent 3HE coolers on the CPUs as the HDD bays were taking up the room of the 4HE chassis - so 2HE passive heatsinks have been used. I was not happy about the temperatures with 4 x 80mm intake fans and 2 x 80mm back blowers, so I've designed this to help optimize the cooling.

The temperatures in idle dropped by about 15°C and the CPUs do not reach throttle temperatues at full synthetic load anymore :)

The design is very simple and slim as to avoid colliding with other parts, like voltage regulator heatsinks around the CPUs.

To be used with 60x60x10mm cooling fans.
