MOBOTIX M24/M25/M26 Lens Covers tend to deteriorate over time and make the image blurry. No wonder, they are completely made of cheap plastic. MOBOTIX sells replacement parts (even one with a glass insert) with a huge price tag.
However, the original replacement part still doesn't address the fact that the white camera body reflects onto the lens when the camera is looking at a bright light source (yes, I am talking to you sun!).
Having to replace about 80 covers over the next little while made me think of a better solution. Fusion 360 and some hours later, MxLensCapPlus was born, tested and improved in multiple iterations.
The latest version uses a watch glass and an o-ring seal to make it water tight.
Only print with UV resistant filament when using the camera outdoors.
If you ever tried to open a very tight lens cover, the Lens Wrench might come in handy. The file fits the original MOBOTIX lens cover when scaled down to 99% (my lens cover is slightly bigger because to the glass)
