Summary

Modular storage system for Lego Minifigures.

Realising we have over 200 figures, the options were slim without excessive filament use, so I designed a tray and rack system to store in 8 x 8 formation, totalling 64 minifigures per rack system. Can be extended as long as required by simply printing more boards and leg frames.

This was designed with floating shelves in mind, each rack of 2 frames and 8 boards sits within 250mm square and the pieces have been designed to be held together with minimal friction, no glue or screws required. We are using on a 1mtr shelf so we can get 256 minifigures housed, but the length is limited by imagination.

If making more than 8x8, place boards with half overlap into frame. i.e 16 boards would use 3 frames, 24 boards 4 frames ect.

No supports required for any parts, printing at 0.3 layer height with 20% infill, but these will print with lower/higher settings if required.

Designed in Fusion360 to solve an ongoing headache, nothing fancy but it has done the job..

Happy printing and Happy New Year!

Edit

I have replaced the original frame with one that has centre support to reduce any sag with lower infill percentage, either can be used.

Frames print in around 4 hours each and the boards at around 90 minutes, depending on speeds ect.
