I designed this LEGO minifigure shadow box to hold most of my LEGO minifigs. For the acrylic sheet and the back piece, I used a 22.375" x 34" movie poster frame. And to connect all pieces, I just used super glue gel and hot glue. I had some bad baseplates that I just so the minifigs could stand without falling. Using multiple 32x32 stud base plates, I cut into them into 4x32 strips which fit well.
I've included the fusion files so if you need to cut the frame even more then you'll be able!
