Made this LEGO style battery box and top a while ago, and forgot to upload it. There are a few different sizes. Also there is a version of a PF style connector that you can use (4) SIP's as the pins. The tops need 1/2 of a PF extension cable. I know it is a LEGO sin to modify pieces...but....I have a 3yr old son who is like a LEGO godzilla.
Once cut, the PF socket will fit snugly into the opening on the top piece. Fish the cable thru from the underside. The bend on the cable looks bad, but after printing different size openings, this one seems to put very little strain on the cable. The fit of the actual PF connector into the top piece is perfect on my printer.
Eventually I will get around to posting the PCB that can fit into the larger box. Its just a simple power supply board.
Here is a link to an older version I made. It uses just the top from the PF Battery Box 88000 that was included with the train set. It was for a bigger battery.
