This is a leg spreader for photography tripods with leg diameter 40mm.
Other than the printed parts, you'll need:
- Screws M4 x 25mm, flat head
- Aluminum square tubes 12mm, min length 200mm.
- Print all parts (I suggest PETG or some CF infused material). 0.3mm layer should be fine.
- With the jig, drill holes for the screws on the alumium tubes. I used 175mm between centers for my tripod Bexin.
- Still using the jig, mark where to cut the tubes.
- Assemble the hub, the tubes and the internal part of the clamps.
- Position the assembly on the tripod, on a height such that the hub is below horizontal and some force to spread the legs is required to move the hub above horizontal.
- Finish assembling the clamps. The assembly should not get in the way when you close the tripod.
