Summary

I designed this to be light and easy to print. It also looks great with transparent PLA. The red and yellow version shown was printed with Hatchbox Transparent Red and Transparent Yellow and TTYT3D Shine Gold.

If you're looking for a more classic design, look at my Christmas Bell Ornaments. They are all part of my Christmas Collection.

The ornament prints reasonably well without any supports using an FDM printer, but the top rim winds up a little rounded and the inside is a little rough (where it doesn't show). I wanted it to print exactly as I designed it, so I experimented with various Cura supports before designing my own in Blender. If you want the outside to print its best but don't care about the inside, print the STL "with Outer Supports." If you want it to look its best everywhere, print the STL "with All Supports."

  • Without supports, it will take about 4 hours to print.
  • With just outer supports, it will take about 7 hours to print.
  • With all supports, it takes about 8 hours to print.
