When I was a kid, Star Trek was my favorite show. My 3D printer is as close to a replicator as I'll see in my lifetime, so I decided to get into it and design a comprehensive Laser Pistol as was used in a few of the first episodes of the program.
The trigger works (with a standard spring from a cheap pen,) the muzzle rotates, the barrel is hollow and screws into the receiver to allow the addition of electronics. It's pretty cool, if I say so myself. :)
The parts are oriented as I printed them I used a brim on the trigger, but other than that, it should print pretty well.
The “frog” is the thing that'd let you hang it on a belt. If you wanted to use it, you'll need (2) 20x3mm round magnets and (4) 20x5x2 rectangular magnets. If you want a display model, I included dummy magnets you can print.
Assembly should be pretty straightforward. Non-moving parts are intended to be glued together. The middle ring should be glued to the barrel.
In the spirit of Star Trek, I provide this model for free. It is my fondest wish it gets enjoyed by a wide audience.
