I used reaConverter to get a .dxf from the original .stl file (designed for a 3D printer). Then I used Coredraw Designer to open the .dxf, to fill the flatten design with a plain black surface, to convert the shape to a bitmap, to set 1-bit black and white color, then I did a vectorial border detection with 50% of sensibility.
Should work on any laser cutter using very thin lines as cut path.
Made in 5mm plywood!
