Colourful children's clock made from Acrylic (Plexiglas) using a laser cutter.
The clock face was made from 3mm Acrylic. Since my clock mechanism could only protrude through two layers, the various components of the badge were interlaid (you can chose to construct differently). A 1.4mm MDF piece was glued to the back of the clock to hold the black and white pieces together, and a 6mm MDF ring piece was glued onto this to prevent the clock mechanism from rotating when a battery is being fitted or removed.
To save material, the various white Acrylic pieces are all together, but must be separated after cutting (save the little pieces in the font for interlaying if that is how you are constructing).
My construction was: Fit black badge into white clock face; glue on the thin MDF to hold these together (use the location guide to get the centre aligned then remove); white PAW outline and bone are glued onto the black badge; blue PAW font glued into white outline with white fillers used; black patrol font glued into white bone with white fillers used; red badge pieces are glued onto the black badge; blue numbers glued onto clock face (I lightly engrave the number outlines onto the clock face before cutting it as a guide to where to position the numbers); glue on the 6mm MDF at the back to secure the mechanism; insert mechanism, secure and add hands.
