I made a cheap power supply which can provide three different voltages. With cheap of DC-DC stepdown converter modules. I desoldered the onboard potentiometer and replaced it with normal potentiometers. Now I can easily control the voltage with a normal knob. The downside of these cheap converters, they are not very proof to short circuits. As I found out myself….
The cover is made of 3 mm PMMA, plexiglass. Is was cut on a laser-cutter. The design was draw with Solidworks and exported as dxf-file. This format was compatible with the laser-cutter.
I soldered 4 mm banana plugs. I use standard voltage displays. These have power from the test leads. The downside of this is that for voltages under 3 Volt the display powers down. However I need for my project mostly 3.3 V, 5 V, 9 V or 12 V. The DC input power is provided by a Universal 24V 5A 120W Switching Power Supply Transformer 110v 220v AC to dc for LED Strip Light Lighting. The whole project costed less than € 30.-.
