Summary

these are the design files for a mirror frame sized 198mm. I'd make them 2mm larger next time so that they fit the mirror a bit better (since the mirror was actually 200mm...)

to engrave a mirror, put it upside down in the laser cutter, engrave the backside with just enough power to get through the silver backing and rather coarse DPI settings so that you don't overheat the mirror and break it (as I did the first 4 tries...).

assembly process:

  • cut the parts from a material of your choice (I used 4mm poplar)
  • drill up the holes with a 2mm drill
  • take toothpicks and align the parts in a sandwich (broad parts in the front , narrow parts in the middle, still wait with the broad parts in the back)
  • set the puzzle together and insert the mirror
  • now insert the broad parts on the backside.
  • butter the contact surfaces between all wooden parts with wood glue
  • press them for 12 hours
  • insert the LED strip in the back
  • sand and paint the wood if you like
  • apply corner ornaments if you like
