The file 'Laser Cut Gears Backlit Picture Frame' is (dxf) file type, size is 320.3KB.
This is a backlit 11x17 picture frame I made on my laser cutter. There are four layers, the face, a 1/2" spacer, a reflector, and a back. I made the face using a combination of etching and cutting to ensure that it would hold together but let light shine through and mask a bit of the LEDs. The 1/2" spacer is perfect for a band of LEDs. The two back pieces hold the picture with the front one reflecting the light.
I cut the face frame using 1/4" Maple veneered MDF, and used a few coats of polyurethane. The spacer is 1/2" plywood. and the back two are 1/4" White melamine MDF. The outside dimensions are 15.5" x 21.5".
Initially I cut the spacer and back pieces in 4 pieces each but I found it difficult to glue them up square, so I recommend cutting them as single pieces.
