Summary

I wanted to save space on my computer desk, but couldn't use just any laptop stand for my computer due to the Thunderbolt 3 cable not being extendable or replaceable.

The final design is two of the stands connected by a 6mm stainless rod that came from an old computer printer in my scrap bin.

Instructions

The Dell TB16 dock (I don't recommend due to the short Thunderbolt 3 cable) is about 55mm tall. In order to have my laptop above the dock, I made sure that the connecting rod was 60mm above the table. The only other critical dimension in the thickness of the laptop which is 24.8mm.

Since my computer table is a plastic table and has been used for many years, in some places it sags from something set in the same spot such as monitors, speakers, etc. With little contact to the table where each leg touches, it's not going to wobble as something flat would. The legs are not glued to the rod so they can swivel if they need to.
