Summary

After buying my first 3D printer (a Wanhao i3 Plus), I started wondering what to sit it on. The multitude of IKEA LACK designs on Thingiverse were a great start, but I wanted a few other things…

Design Goals

  • On wheels – so I can roll it away (see my: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2614692)
  • Stable – which is somewhat negated by putting it on wheels!
  • Easy and full access to printer – meaning the top/cover needed to be removable, which then meant…
  • Filament spool not mounted to top/cover – because then I’d have to unload filament to take the top off (see my: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2614686)
  • Good lighting, with a power source easily disconnected from the base (so I can take the top off) (see my: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2614691)
  • Clean design, and parts reasonably quick to print
