This filament spool holder is designed to fit atop a Kossel printer that uses 20x20mm extrusions for the upper frame. It uses some printed parts, and some hardware available in local hardware stores in the US.
I used an aluminum rod and bearings from Home Depot to make a simple spool holder that works great.
Parts:
a. (1) ½” Aluminum round rod, cut to length
b. (2) 1-3/8” x ½” Precision Bearing Reducer
c. (2) ½” bore set screw collars (or cable ties work too)
d. (2) Printed spool hub and (2) rail mounts (this Thingiverse thing). You may need to adjust the spool hub diameter to fit the brand of filament you use.
e. (4) M3 screws, washers, and T-nuts
The inspiration came from 3DFreezeMe's design for 15mm extrusion.
