Summary

THIS THING IS A WORK IN PROGRESS AND IS UNDERGOING DESIGN CHANGES TO IMPROVE FLIGHT CHARACTERISTICS!

Who wouldn't want to pilot the legendary blue shell from Mariokart? This design is a novel FPV micro quad designed around pdiefend's spiked koopa shell. It prints in two parts which are held together with neodymium magnets.

This flies, but really is too heavy for the 8.5mm motors and 1S 400 or 500mah batteries I used. The motors carry it, but the batteries lack the current needed to fly well. I am working to remove weight to improve the flight characteristics. More powerful motors or 2S batteries would probably make it fly fine, but I would like to be able to use the same parts as my other micro quads. I am attempting to remove unnecessary material and may redesign the magnetic closure as the magnets currently make up 10 percent of the overall weight and provide more holding power than is really necessary.

I have the option to vacuum-form the shell and attach it around a 3d printed micro quad, but I want to keep this entirely 3d printable - which I believe is definitely possible.
