This is a 3D printable kirby fume extractor that took inspiration from Chris Borge's kirby fume extractor. A few parts like the hinge that allows the kirby to turn up and down was taken from his design and I recommend checking it out. I took my own spin on it for my own purpose and made it so that it ran on a 9v battery instead of wall power. This is less voltage than the limit of 12v that the fan I used is rated for however the suction should still be pretty good for soldering.
The kirby is designed to specifically house the following parts:
Some assembly is required but it should mainly be self explanatory. The screws that come with the fan are required to keep the front and back ends of the kirby together. The grate is intended to be glued to the back as well as the feet to the star and the cheeks and eyes. The only thing connecting the kirby to the star itself is the hinge connector which is able to be slid on through the bottom of the kirby. Some soldering/connecting of wires is required and is done in the hole of the right foot. You will probably need to cut some of the wires down to size so it all fits neatly in. The front end of the kirby has space for a filter to be placed.
I printed the kirby with a variety of different filament colors and spray painted some of the other parts to color. Filament type shouldn't matter too much however I did find that the battery panel was a bit bendy, so a tougher filament that's less flexible may be bettter.
