Summary

I bought a lot of Kinna solar deck lights from Amazon and I saw people had mounted them to 4x4 posts. I don’t know how they did it though because the template to mount the lights would have the two screws straddle the post or it would have to be crooked. Neither of which were what I wanted. I tried using outdoor command strips which did not work.

So I designed this thing to be a mount plate. It has to be made with something flexible because the lip that surrounds the light has to be able to flex. There is a seam on the light that allows moisture into the light, so I wanted to cover that up.

The print is really easy and a great first project for TPU if you’ve been thinking about trying it. I print onto a PEI bed and when finished, just pour a little isopropyl alcohol at the edge of the print and it will release from the surface.

If you use the giant arm TPU, you’ll need to dry it overnight first because it came out of the vacuum pack totally wet and unprintable. There aren’t a lot of options for brownish TPU.

Use two M4-10 button head machine screws and nuts to mount the light into the holder. Put these on first. Then use one of their provided screws to mount the holder to your post.

Then align the M4 screws with the holes on the back of the light and slide into place. The lip will pop into place around the light. It’s a perfect fit.

Please post your make if you use this!!
