The file 'Key Lock Mechanism 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 158.7KB.
This is a key mechanism I designed to show others how a key mechanism works. (I might add a safe to this design soon.) There is a right key and a wrong key. The right key is the circle key. The wrong key is the diamond key.
None of the files need supports except for the plug, which needs to printed on the opposite side of the key hole.
The keys need to be laying flat, the housing with the holes down, the tumblers with the smaller side down, the upper pins with the slanted side down, and the outer cover the way it is. You may have to sand the holes for the outer
cover and the big hole in the housing.
DIRECTIONS:
Put right key inside of plug.
Put in the tumblers inside the plug so that they line up with the plug (make sure the key is in all the way).
Slide the plug into the housing.
Put the upper pins into the housing, with the slanted part facing down.
Bend on the outer cover.
Spin the key around to make sure it works right.
Make sure that the key in the plug is totally vertical, and that you can pull it out. The key will not come out unless it is vertical.
Glue on the locking piece.
Try and put the wrong key in. It doesn't work, right?
Enjoy!
