Summary

I endeavored to make a replica Kenner speeder bike complete with exploding/launching mechanism for the chassis. I've tested much of this, but have gotten behind on my printing projects and would love if someone could try this out and let me know how it works for them.

Exploding mechanism is accomplished with a rubber band or tension spring; if using a rubber band the trick will be getting a narrow enough one that it does not catch on the sides of the interior of the body, especially with a knot (which will likely be necessary to shorten a rubber band you have, unless you already have a perfectly sized one).

Printing:
Print one of each part, as well as a flipped version of the leg and fender pieces to have one for each side. The body is asymmetrical and has 2 distinct models.

Assembly:

  1. The rubber band/spring will go around the hook on "SB Hinge.stl" and the latch on "SB Latch.stl"; this is shown in red in the image
  2. Insert the hinge/latch assembly between the two halves of the body and connect them with glue (I tried to design the body such that these pieces could also be removed and reinserted after the body is connected in case they need to be tweaked)
  3. "SB Pack-Button.stl" is inserted from the back so that its slot fits over the prong from the latch piece. You can try to test that the spring action works appropriately at this point when you push the pack down.
  4. "SB Back.stl" should be glued on taking care that glue will not touch the pack-button piece so it can move freely.
  5. Place the back of the leg through the slot in the "back" piece, the put on the fender with the post going through the corresponding hole in the leg piece.
  6. Connect the blaster through the bottom piece, then connect the bottom where the square pegs should line up.
  7. Give me feedback so I can finalize this!
