Summary

After completing my Santa Claus 4x figure (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3899272), I decided to try and compile a Mrs Claus to match. I've searched many sites over the years and honestly cannot remember where each part was sourced from originally, so ALL acknowledgements go to the original creators!

If I recall, most parts are available on Thingiverse, but some may have been collected from other sites.

On to the detail!

As with my Santa Claus, I was trying to create a particular look given the constraints of what is already available - mix 'n match if you will, as I suck at 3D designing... luckily there are many talented designers out there, so I managed to find most parts I was looking for.

I knew I wanted Mrs Claus to have a long skirt, shoes and some body detail - this is the result so far!

  • I used Tech77's Gamora main body/v-chest/neck v-line parts (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2310842), changing the colours to fit my theme.
  • The skirt and hips are from ghframe's thing https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1376541 - the hips need support and it's a tight fit into the body. I started printing white and did a filament swap to red at the start of the leg rear base hole - this gives the appearance of white trim around the skirt base. I may add some thin white velvet ribbon instead.
  • I honestly cannot find where I got the hair and shoes from, probably a thing collection, so kudos to those designers/publishers.
  • A smiley innie-face with printable eyes/mouth will be sourced for the final head part.
  • Skimbal's body parts were used for the remaining parts.

I have included some alternate parts for a more standard female figure with legs, marked with ALT_ at the front of the filename.

Some parts may change as I find better ones for the final look I want, but so far it's pretty much on track. The hair is good, but doesn't fit with an older Mrs Claus look - if I can find a bun-type shorter hair, I'll use that instead, if not, I'll "grey" it a bit. I still need to print the final smiley head - I've used a failed one for now; the paint ran in the eyes and mouth...

I will add photos as I progress.

Again, eSun ABS filament was used, with the following colours:
Red, White, Black, Skin

It's turned out well so far - some items may change, however I'll keep the files updated as they change.

The next project will be a couple of Santa's Elves :)

UPDATE: 30 March

Printed Brendan's head version (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1675494), with recessed eyes and mouth with printable eye and mouth parts - works much better! Files added.

Added some silver paint highlights to the hair using a fine Sharpie paint pen, then rubbed it with an old rag dipped in some turpentine to get the colour worked into the print ridges - also works well.

Busy looking for a suitable cape to print in red, but the space between the hair and the body is only 5-7mm, so it doesn't allow for fitting the cape I wanted to use - I will probably use some red craft felt and cut it out similar to the Gandalf figure (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2205297). The PDF cutout image was updated to include a smoothed wide cape and the batman style cape.

UPDATE: 07 April

Added a red felt robe, white felt apron, red felt hob hat, christmas rattler and a green mug. STL's added as needed.

I used SE_2018's Bunch Of Cups thing: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2835593.

The rattler was a handle from a shield (I think it was Snidera's Captain America), with a couple of Lindt Chocolate Bunny bells that were heated and melted into the plastic ends.

The Hob Hat was made with red craft felt - see the attached picture for the instructions.

The apron was made of white and red craft felt - cut to size/shape and glued around the waist.

My Mrs Claus is now complete!
I've added a picture of both Santa and Mrs Claus together for reference.
