Summary

Maj 31/08/2021 add Male 2 & 3 pins connectors

I designed these JST Connectors to fit cable terminals, to connect my home made filament sensor to the Ender 3 v2 PCB.
If you don't have a JST kit around but cable terminals and you can't wait this is for you...

I designed the female connector 2.4mm longer to encapsulate the entire terminal tubings, so did I with the male connectors. My designs are voluntary minimalist to print easily without support. It works very well you can even solder wires on the Male connector !

Anyway you shouldn't expect a long lasting if you plug and unplug them often, cause the crushed tubes will obviously loosen faster than the springs of the genuine design.

You can modify any design using the RAW.step files provided. In Freecad Part Design workbench, create a body, drag and drop the object on the body and you can use the tools as usual.

PCB connectors and Male connector:

  1. Scavenge some pins de-soldered from an old PC motherboard (easy with a hot gun)
  2. Introduce the pins in the holes which are voluntary tight.
  3. Solder the wires...

Female connectors :

  1. Disassemble a terminal connector (1.2mm ext diameter)
  2. Crush the tube a little as shown on the picture
  3. Find an old Motherboard to punch the tube on an available pin. You shall slide it and stir it with the fingers when it is ok
  4. Slide the JST connector on the wires first
  5. crush the terminals on the wires or solder them inside (not much than a few mm) crushing the tube is way easier and very strong (see picture).
  6. insert the tubes in place and secure it. Apply a little pressure with the tip of your soldering iron for a perfect finish if you have one. this is optional.
  7. insert and stir multiples times your new connector on the old motherboard pins to make it slide smooth and tight before you connect it on your printer mainboard or anything you like.
