DISCLAIMER: I have not tested this, I hold no responsibility for what happens to your joystick, in the process of taking apart my joystick multiples times just to get dimensions of the shaft, my joystick has gotten a drifting issue in all the axis except the throttle.

First off I want to thank JFlyer81 for including STEP files in his project, it made it extremely easy to modify them for my purposes. Second, this isn't a straightforward mod to do and requires soldering know-how, I myself am learning new things. Thirdly, this is no longer a perfect replica of the F-16 Sidestick, I had to make some changes here and there to the bottom area, but I don't think it's very noticeable since it will be covered by the rubber piece. Lastly, this is the left-handed model that I modified, feel free to download the step files and mirror them or request me to do them for you, I could just add the files later.

This is probably the most meticulous model modification I've ever made, trying to get the dimensions for the shaft was a horrendous experience, it didn't exist online and the parts on the shaft that I used on the shaft to make sure the joysticks didn't twist was in a very hard to position to get measurements on. To be specific, I used the end stops(?) for the twist motion as mounting points(?) so that it doesn't twist, so yes, this mod will render the twisting motion completely null, but there is actually a reason for this. The Joystick has a POV switch(4 buttons), 10 extra buttons, 2 trigger buttons, a throttle axis, and a twist axis, this all totals up to 18 inputs, which gives us just enough to fill up the button holes, not perfectly but, imo, enough, so I mention this again, this makes this, not a perfect replica for sure.

How did I plan on wiring it up? Well, I would wire up the buttons from the POV switch plus another 8 Buttons for 3 HAT Switches, and the secondary trigger button for the CMS Switch(Yes, I turned it into a push-button, maybe one day if I get a new circuit board I will have enough inputs, thank you so much for adding a push feature to the HAT Switch Housing), 2 buttons for the Pickle and NWS Buttons, 1 Button for the Trigger(It's no longer a 2 stage trigger), and finally 2 axis for the Paddle and Pinkie Button, this last part I plan on figuring out if I soldered a button onto it, will it detect it as 100% axis, if so it should work.

What changes did I make? I added support pieces for the shaft where it was necessary, basically copying the one in the original joystick, I also added indents to bite into the little wedges on the shaft to keep the joystick centered and not twist. I added another screw hole for support and extra bite and I also modified the Nubbin Part so it won't get in the way of the shaft, this means you will need another screw for it and is also the reason why I added another screw hole. I also made a test STL to print out for fitment testing purposes.

What screws should you get?

x10 M2 10mm Screws for the HAT Housings and paddle
x1 M3 6mm Bolt/Screw for the Nubbin Piece
x6 M3 10mm Bolt/Screw for the majority of the other screw holes
x1 M3 22-23mm Bolt/Screw for the trigger, I got myself a 25mm one I plan to cut

Honestly, there's some +/- here and there, you might need to cut or file the screws by .5-1mm to get perfect fitment.

Other than that, you will need wires, you will need to desolder(or solder directly on the back of the existing solder) of your button circuit board on the top of the joystick for the inputs, and then you'll need to reposition that board into the base somehow and reroute the wires up the shaft into the new stick. I want to state that, you will also need to download the remaining files from the original Thingiverse(https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4544115) as I only included what I modified.

Update 1 (26th July 2021): I printed the prototype and there are massive issues in fitment and a mistake on my part, please do not print this unless you want to help fix it, in the meantime I will try to fix it and keep making it better.

Update 2 (6th July 2022): It's been almost a year now, if you've been following the recent comment replies I've made, you'll know I had some financial struggles, and to add to that, mental health issues as well considering covid is still rampant in my country. I'd like to thank the people who recently brought back a flame in me to restart this project, especially rcwees16, he private messaged me to help with the mounting ports and I think he made something successful. I am currently in the process of reverse engineering his mounting parts onto the F-16 stick and hopefully, it'll work, but I won't upload it until a test is done, see you guys then.
