Indoor ADS-B Case

Description

This is a purpose built indoor case primarily for the Wingbits ADS-B project. The case provides protection and allows extra cooling for your components. It also supports the use of a POE hat, and a 40mm USB fan with a filter. NOT weather proof.

This is the case only version which is free. A lot of work went into this design and will continue as I add support for more components. If you are looking for the all-in-one attic install kit or the Wingbits themed lid, you can find here

Materials List
If you deviate from this list, make the necessary adjustments. This is how i built mine so only the following components are officially supported.

• ~135g @ ABS, ASA , or PETG filament
• 1 @ Raspberry Pi 4B8GB or 4B
• 1 @ POE hat with included hardware
• 1 @ POE Injector or switch
• Heat sinks and thermal adhesive
• 1 @ ≥ 32GB Micro SD card
• Choose 1 of the following supported SDRs: ADSB Exchange, FlightAware Pro Stick Plus, or Radarbox Flight Stick.
• 1 @ USB-A male to female extension cable
• 1 @ 40mm USB fan with included screws(L=0.13a/0.67w, M=0.145a/0.73w, H=0.153a/0.765w)
• Foam Filter
• Solder
• Heat shrink or electrical tape
• 13 @ M2.5 x 6mm flathead screws
• 2 @ Flathead wood screws - Mounting

Don't forget about an ADS-B antenna, LMR cable, and antenna mount.

• #2 Philips Tip
• 5mm nut driver
• Soldering iron
• Wire strippers
• Heat gun or lighter (or scissors if using electrical tape instead of heat shrink)

• case_v1c.stl - Compact case with internal mounting holes.
• case_v1e.stl - Case with external mounting holes.
• lid_v1.stl - Plug for the internal mounting holes if not used.
• plug.stl - Sled for ADSB Exchange SDR.
• sdcover_v1.stl - cover for the micro SD card slot.
• adsbe_sled.stl - Sled for ADSB Exchange SDR.
• fa_sled.stl - Sled for FlightAware Pro Stick Plus.
• radarbox_sled.stl - Sled for Radarbox Flight Stick.
