This project was undertaken in association with a professional double glazing technician. We discussed the shortcomings of the current design of glazing paddle in terms of factors such as improving access in tight situations, facilitating a larger angle of movement and improving the grip of the paddle working surfaces. The design we came up with has angled ends, a raised semi-circular rib and a patterned texture to help in this respect.
I sent him a prototype made from Qidi PETG-Tough and was really pleased to hear that the design was very successful. So much so that the other four technicians working at the company expressed a desire to have one, so I duly obliged with additional paddles.
PLA and normal PETG isn't tough enough; it is essential to use an enhanced toughness filament of some kind. I haven't tried ABS, but it would probably be fine.
