I have been trying to create the smallest possible case for Meshtastic devices. Things like GPS, a screen, or buttons have been sacrificed in favour of a smaller size.
This case is made of two parts, the case and the bottom cap. The case is meant to print with the hole for the SMA connector down on the print bed. Both parts can be printed without any supports.
Apart from the printed parts, you need:
- RAK19003 example
- RAK4631 (or whatever core module you want to use) example
- 2.4GHz BLE PCB Antenna example
- U.FL IPEX to SMA cable example
- LP103454 Battery (or whichever fits the case, check connector polarity!) example
After printing the parts:
- mount the SMA connector in the case and connect an antenna
- connect IPEX end to the RAK4631
- connect the BLE PCB Antenna to the RAK4631
- connect the battery to the RAK4631 (check polarity!)
Then, fit everything together, and slide it into the case using the guide, this is a bit fiddly, some pointers:
- the USB-C connector should be facing outwards
- the top side of the RAK19003 should be facing in the the farthest wall
- the battery should fit in between the RAK19003 and the farthest wall, insert the battery halfway before inserting the RAK19003
- the BLE PCB antenna fits between the RAK19003 and the closest wall
- the RAK19003 should be pushed all the way inside the case, the PCB must fit all the way, only a part of the USB-C connector might extend outside the case
Finally, insert the bottom cap, I have made this a really tight fit, you are expected to use a lot of force.
