Icosahedron Coin Jar
Dimensions (assembled, upright): 110mm width x 130mm depth x 103mm height
NOTE: I have only tested this print in PETG.
NOTE: I Included a version with no text and a version with no text or slot.
NOTE: Over-rotation by a couple degrees is possible when threading, but it will hold its correct orientation easily. A future version may include a thread stop if I come back to this project.
A regular icosahedron is a platonic solid with 20 equilateral triangle faces. This icosahedron coin jar was partly inspired by space stations in the game Elite Dangerous, as well as my interest in geometry.
The coin jar prints in two halves that thread together.
On my Prusa i3 MK3, the print took about 12 hours at 0.2mm layer height.
Layout the parts in your favorite slicer as shown above for best results.
Makes a great gift or decorative piece for the house!
