This is an indoor hydroponic grow system that hangs on the wall. Inspired by the Wallony Vertical Planters thing:1716323.
Besides the printed parts the system requires a tank, a pump, a timer, a light source, some hoses, grow medium, patience, hydroponic nutrients, water, seeds, filter mesh, a wall and did I say patience?
There are two different systems to choose from.
One is a flow and drain system where the pump floods the plants and then all the water drains back to the tank. This system requires a medium in the planter to hold moisture and for the roots to grow in. Expanded clay (leca) is a good choice. A small piece of nylon mesh should be placed in the bottom to slow down the draining and prevent the holes from getting clogged.
The other system is a reservoir system where the roots hang freely in a volyme of water. The pump tops up and flushes the system with fresh oxygenated nutrient solution. No medium is needed in this planter.
The same lid is used for both systems. Slide a square of rockwool into the lid and make a small hole for the seed. During the start the upper holes in the lid should be covered with the a plug to direct the water down to the rockwool. When the roots are reaching down into the planter the plug can be removed.
Rows of hangers should be secured to the wall with 121mm spacing and then each planter can be put up or taken down easily for harvesting or replanting.
For the water supply the tube clamps can be put on the top row of hangers to hold a 6mm OD water tube from the pump. For the bottom return line a 13mm ID hose can be used together with the hose joiners to route the water back to the tank.
For printing I recommend PETG and use as high flow rate as possible (~110%) to make everything watertight. The planters print well laying on the back with a little support under the outlet pipe. The lids print well standing on the side.
Each planter takes up to 10h so a 50x70cm wall as in the picture can take a week to print. And that's where the patience is required.
These are untested prototypes so there might be errors. I would recommend to wait a while before printing a large number of these parts.

After printing a few prototypes I changed the hanger to give it a little more support against the wall and added a drill template to make it easier to mark and drill accurately. I also added a funnel hose adapter for the bottom drain, adjusted for a 1/2" ID garden hose. This might be to small to handle the flow or it might work.

My pump had to much flow so I have added a simple flow control device that only requires one M3 screw. And a hose clamp to attach the hose to the wall. I also discovered that the funnel needs i bit of sealer (silicone) to make a watertight seal to the return hose.

Made a few changes to the lid so use the improved lid_2.

After some experimenting I discovered that it´s a lot better to just remove the lid and plant on the leca. Use the latest left and right "no_lid" stl files. Just fill the planter with leca and add on layer of ordinary TP. Spread out the seeds and add one more layer of TP. The paper will make sure all the seeds get wet and prevent them from geting flushed down by the water.
