Summary

This is a model of a light switch plate for the Honeywell Tap-Lite switches, which may still be found in houses built in the 1950s - 60s. The original plates are clear plastic so that the homeowner could either paint them to match the wall color or insert a wallpaper sample inside of the plate.

These were designed by Henry Dreyfuss, who (along with Raymond Loewy) is one of the two most significant American industrial designers of the 20th century.

We built these to replace a few broken ones around the house. In testing, I found that the resin versions had the best fit when printed at 100.5%. As you can see in the pictures, post-processing, and polishing are still ongoing.

Original Solidworks model is included.
